You said -
"I've never dug into 1985 at all myself, I guess I believe the people who say it sucks."

If you would like to make up your own mind
listen to;
4-7-85 ll
4-27-85 dancin
4-28-85
6-27-85 eyes
6-28-85 my second favorite cr&s, nice birdsong, a magical terrapin

85 and the band was evolving yet again. Faster sound with the band
taking some chances musically that sometimes brilliantly paid off. This was the 25th anniversary tour, they were breaking out some old songs and playing more covers. Jerry was wearing alot of red t shirts (watchout!), and his voice got really hagged after the summer 84 tour. Many peoples beef w 85 is jerrys voice.

There was a time when shows were harder to come by. Analog trading, relix, and all day dub sessions, and a 2nd to 4th generation tape was pretty good. There was a upsurge of lowgen sbd's from 85 that came from the lighting crew, and this may have swayed peoples opinion of a few
shows and bumped them up a few more notches than normal, adding to the list of some of the more overrated shows in memory. Especially the Greek 85 run, sorry I don't get it.

That dicks picks from 85 is an atrocious pick to be released as well.

But I have spent a considerable time equally listening to most eras, sans 92-95 which i havnt been able to appreciate, and start to get really itchy.

85 is a weird year for me. Jerry sounds like hell most of the time but the oddball set lists and covers are appealing. Most of the early part of the year and Spring leave a lot to be desired but then some nice gems in the summer and fall. Crap shoot year I guess
